Saturday 18 May 2024 11.00am: Come Away In, Storey's Field Centre, Eddington
We performed another glorious collection of unaccompanied songs, led by Chloë Allison, including traditional Irish melodies, 1930s jazz, some Mendelssohn and Karine Polwart's joyous Come Away In.
Saturday 13 May 2023 11.00am: Songs for a May Morning, Storey's Field Centre, Eddington
Songs included Steal Away, the African-American spiritual, Somewhere from West Side Story and the centuries-old sea ballad Leave Her, Johnny.
December 2022: Christmas concert with Choir 2000, Histon Baptist Church
June 2022: Midsummer on the River Cam, Midsummer Common
WoN performed some river-related songs at a celebration of the River Cam. Organised by Friends of the Cam.
May 2022: Women of Note in Concert, Storeys Field Centre, Eddington
After two years of lockdowns Women of Note celebrated being able to sing together again with a wonderful collection of songs, including James Taylor’s That Lonesome Road, The Measure of My Heart by singer songwriter Alison Burns and the traditional Scottish folk song Loch Lomond.
October 2019: A Sentimental Journey, Michaelhouse, Cambridge
We performed songs, poems and readings to celebrate 25 years of Women of Note singing together
July 2019: Street Choir Festival, Manchester
This annual event, hosted in 2019 at the Royal Northern College of Music, included a massed sing – a choir of 1000 voices. A fabulous weekend of singing, including a busking spot beneath the new statue of Emmeline Pankhurst.
May 2019: With Strings Attached, Unitarian Church, Cambridge
An informal, lively concert: we sang two sets of mixed numbers and were joined by local ukulele band The Flukes.
July 2018: Big Weekend, Parkers Piece
We were delighted to be performing on the local bands stage, with a set of feminist songs to celebrate the centenary of suffrage for most women in the UK.
February 2018: Honouring Millicent Garrett Fawcett, Cambridge Guildhall
We were thrilled to be part of Cambridge's celebration of the People's Representation Act 1918, which gave the vote to some women and paved the way to universal suffrage in the UK 10 years later.
One of our most memorable singing events was attending an Advent choir festival in Prague in 2013.
